Sharmaine Taylor, founder of Noir Sunshine Wines, is a pioneering BIPOC winemaker and devoted “Mom-preneur,” seamlessly blending the worlds of winemaking and motherhood with resilience and creativity.

With decades of experience as a Health Scientist and a background in Chemistry and Microbiology, she delves into the intricacies of winemaking practices to uncover the underlying “why.”

Transitioning from the laboratory to the vineyard, Sharmaine merges her dual passions of science and wine to craft exquisite experiences

Certified as a Sommelier in 2018, Sharmaine orchestrates captivating wine events and curates wine lists for restaurants in the Baltimore Washington area.

OUR WINEMAKER

As a sought-after panelist on international stages, she amplifies the voices of women in the wine industry, particularly women of color, filling a crucial void in the wine community.

In the midst of a pandemic, Sharmaine fearlessly launched The Noir Society, formerly known as The Baltimore Wine Fairy Society, a luxury wine club dedicated to inclusivity and conscious sipping.

Through Noir’s natural, sustainable wines, she redefines the wine industry with her dynamic approach, inviting everyone to explore the complexity and essence of each sip.

Sharmaine’s journey epitomizes dedication, authenticity, and the artistry of winemaking, as she embraces the intricate notes and layers within every varietal, inspiring others to embark on their own wine discovery.
